About Us
The Employment Alliance for People with Disabilities (EAPD) is a non-partisan, non-profit organization comprised of business and service professionals working jointly to achieve the highest success, empowerment and independence of people with disabilities. EAPD activities serve the workplace, marketplace, supply chain, and economy.
- EAPD promotes the full inclusion of people with disabilities in the labor force, supply chain and marketplace and actively participates in state and national strategic alliances and partnerships to promote public policy, employment and increase the personal and financial independence of people with cross-disabilities.
- EAPD seeks effective and meaningful partnerships and collaboration with thought leaders and best-practice innovators, national and state associations, advocacy groups, grass-roots organizations and representatives of other systems or entities interested in social justice, leadership and equality for all.
- EAPD is a National Partner of the new LEAD Center – known formally as the National Center on Leadership for the Employment and Economic Advancement of People with Disabilities (LEAD). The LEAD Center, is a collaborative of disability, workforce and economic empowerment organizations led by National Disability Institute with funding from the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Disability Employment Policy. The LEAD Center brings together a range of organizations, thought leaders and best-practice innovators to expand policy, employment, leadership and economic advancement opportunities and outcomes for all people with disabilities.

The EAPD was chosen by the Texas Governor's Committee on Persons with Disabilities as the 2012 winner of the prestigious Lex Frieden Employment Award in the Martha Arbuckle Category --which recognizes the SINGLE most innovative organization and project in the State of Texas that transformed the lives of job seekers with disabilities.
EAPD activities include educating employers on how to meet their workforce and market needs by attracting and retaining a diverse workforce and guiding businesses strategies to expand diversity and recruiting efforts by outreaching, hiring and retaining people with disabilities, older Americans and wounded warriors.
Since 1979, the Texas Governor's Committee on People with Disabilities has worked to highlight the Best Practices that positively affect employees with disabilities within the workplace. The Lex Frieden Employment Awards, named for the well known disability rights champion and independent living movement leader, Dr. Lex Frieden who is regarded as one of the architects of the landmark Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990, are awarded to those that have achieved extraordinary success in enhancing the empowerment and employment of Texans with disabilities.
